TUV Rheinland has an immediate opening for a Local Legal and Compliance Officer, covering the United States, Mexico, and other Latin American country needs, to join our growing, multinational organization. Acting as an integrated member of the Regional Americas Legal and Compliance Team, you are without a doubt a self-motivated, energetic individual with an astute legal and solution-driven mind looking to learn and expand on your previous experiences. The role of the LO (Local Officer) will be to elevate and provide support to various commercial contract reviews primarily in the United States and Mexico, manage local litigation needs, support a growing Latin America business effort (including Argentina and Chile), and coordinate and support compliance needs within the region.

Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

· Support the Regional Officer for the Americas in daily legal contract efforts and requirements from business activities in the United States and Mexico. This will include expanded management of outside counsel in other regional countries and support contract review and TUV Rheinland practices.

· Interact directly with business stream leaders in Mexico and the United States for review, negotiation, and completion of various legal tenders, terms and conditions, master service agreements, and other legal documents.

· Maintain a contract management process including tracking contract status, prioritizing contracts for review, processing internal approvals, and assuring full completion to signature

· Act as a business partner with both internal and external clients for developing strategic and practical legal and compliance solutions.

· Serve as a trusted point of contact for internal clients regarding general legal questions and needs relevant to the testing, inspection, and certification industry

· Responsible for timely and accurate review of legal contracts, applying general company terms and principles, for agreements within the North America region (noting local expertise in jurisdictions you are not licensed in for extraordinary concerns will be provided)

· Identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks within the organization, focusing on many regional countries such as the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and other LAM countries as needed.

· Work collaboratively with various other business and service functions

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a strong ability to advocate in writing and orally to deliver clear legal and compliance advice and guidance

· Manage outside counsel for matters such as complex litigation, corporate governance, and other daily business activities for Mexico.

· Supporting internal investigations and contributing to risk and compliance initiatives.

Education

Work Experience

· JD – required in local jurisdiction

· Bilingual English/Spanish (sufficient to read, review, and edit documents in both languages)

· 2-4 years of law firm or prior in-house legal experience post law school graduation

· 2-4 years of experience in contract review

· Experience with general compliance principles including anti-corruption laws and legislation

· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

· Demonstrated ability to work independently
