The salary range for this position is $110,000-$125,000 and reflects factors such as years of experience, relevant expertise, and overall qualifications.

Job Description

  • Conduct field evaluations, inspections, testing, and assessments of products, equipment, and installations to determine compliance with applicable safety standards and certification requirements.
  • Perform standard and non-standard electrical, mechanical, and/or laboratory-based analyses and tests as needed to support evaluation activities.
  • Interpret and apply industry standards, codes, regulations, and certification requirements during evaluations.
  • Document findings and prepare detailed technical reports that clearly communicate compliance status, identified hazards, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Evaluate test and inspection results and provide sound technical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Install, operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot testing and measurement equipment.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new testing methodologies and evaluation procedures.
  • Manage sample handling, return, and disposal activities when required.
  • Identify potential hazards and assess associated risks in customer environments.
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical contact for customers during field evaluations.
  • Communicate technical requirements and findings professionally, including when customers may disagree with or be resistant to evaluation results.
  • Work independently at customer locations while maintaining communication with internal engineering and technical support teams.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers or technicians when applicable.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education

University Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Experience & Further Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with testing, inspection, certification, compliance, field engineering, or related technical evaluation activities.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems and associated safety principles.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, certification processes, and hazard assessment methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting field evaluations, product safety assessments, inspections, or certification activities.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards such as OSHA, NFPA, UL, CSA, ANSI, or other recognized industry requirements.
  • Experience interacting directly with customers in technical or compliance-focused environments.Previous experience mentoring junior technical staff.

Travel Requirements:

  • Frequent travel (70-80%) required.
  • Travel throughout assigned territories and customer locations, often across multiple states.
  • Must be comfortable working independently while traveling and representing the organization professionally.
