TUV Rheinland Inspection Services (Pty) Ltd.
Permanente, Tempo integral
A partir de agora

Build & Lead the Infrastructure Inspection & Integrity Department
Create the department from the ground up - define service lines, inspection methodologies, standards frameworks, reporting templates, quality systems and the team to deliver them.
Establish TÜV Rheinland as an independent, accredited provider of civil & structural inspection and integrity services in the South African market.
Grow the practice commercially - support proposals, client engagement and pipeline development for inspection, condition-assessment and integrity mandates.
Deliver independent inspection & structural integrity assessment
Lead independent civil/structural condition assessment and integrity evaluation across infrastructure and building assets: bridges, tunnels, underpasses and culverts; retaining walls; buildings (frames, slabs, columns, foundations, facades, parking structures); airports and facilities; rail infrastructure (civil/structural scope); and transmission-line structures and foundations.
Perform defect identification, classification and severity grading; risk-based evaluation; condition rating, prioritisation and repair / monitoring / rehabilitation recommendations.
Apply standards-referenced inspection regimes (e.g. DIN 1076 for bridges and engineering structures; VDI 6200 / RÜV structural examination; SANS / TMH equivalents) and produce damage assessments, expert reports, construction logs and redevelopment concepts.
Provide structural design-review and check-calculation capability - reinforced and prestressed concrete, structural steel and industrial facilities, buried / underground structures, highway and transportation structures, and temporary works.
Establish and coordinate non-metallic construction-material testing and NDT for concrete and building materials (concrete-cover / potential-field, GPR / impulse radar, compressive strength, Falling-Weight Deflectometer) as inspection inputs.
Provide condition and integrity data that feeds operational Asset Integrity Management at handover into operations.
Establish Building Information Modelling (BIM) capability
Stand up BIM as a service - Scan-to-BIM / as-built modelling, 3D coordination and clash detection, 4D scheduling and 5D cost/quantity, and BIM consulting (implementation, documentation, auditing, BEP).
Develop digital-twin readiness so inspection and condition data support whole-life asset management for clients.
Contribute to Project Supervision & advisory (PMC / OE / LTA / IE)
Bring civil/structural expertise into Owner’s Engineer, Lender’s Technical Advisor, Independent Engineer and PMC tenders and mandates - the core of most infrastructure assurance work.
Deliver independent design review and verification, site QA/QC, technical due diligence and cold-eyes reviews on infrastructure projects, acting as the civil/structural focal point for clients, contractors and authorities.
BSc / BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s an advantage).
Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (PrTechEng) - or immediate eligibility to register.
8 years in civil / structural engineering, with a strong emphasis on structural inspection, condition assessment and/or asset integrity of infrastructure and buildings.
Demonstrable experience inspecting and assessing infrastructure and building assets - bridges, buildings, structures, facilities, rail, airports or transmission lines - including defect grading, risk-based prioritisation and remedial recommendations.
Strong command of structural analysis software and structural design-review / check-calculation capability.
An entrepreneurial, build-it appetite - you want to create and grow a department and a team, not only deliver technical work.
Excellent technical report writing, problem-solving and analytical skills; deadline-driven and comfortable managing multiple assignments.
