Job Summary
The Safety Test Engineer is responsible for safety testing of electrical and electronic products (e.g. garden tools) to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g. IEC, UL, EN, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- ■Manage safety testing projects for electrical and electronic products according to international safety standards (e.g. IEC, EN, UL, etc.). This includes: having technical meetings, communicating with customers, evaluating project requirements, preparing/reviewing related documents, and ensuring that orders from customers are fulfilled as agreed, within scheduled time.
- ■Develop test plans for electrical and electronic products according to international safety standards (e.g. IEC, EN, UL, etc.).
- ■Perform safety testing of electrical and electronic products.
- ■Ensure that the testing process meets the laboratory accuracy and quality requirements and the validity of test results.
- ■Assist customers to prepare test samples and check whether the samples meet the test requirements.
- ■Analyze test data, identify potential safety risks and make recommendations for improvements.
- ■Prepare test records/test reports and ensure that they are accurate, complete, and in compliance with relevant standards.
- ■Maintain test records and documentation to ensure compliance with laboratory quality management system requirements.
- ■Communicate with customers on testing needs and answer their questions on testing.
- ■Provide technical support to assist customers in resolving product safety issues.
- ■Participate in the lab's internal audits and quality improvement activities to enhance the lab's technical capabilities and service levels.
- ■Arrange/support calibration of test equipment if required and ensure the availability of required equipment and tools for testing.
- ■Support warehouse management and laboratory maintenance/housekeeping.
Experience & Further Qualifications
Bachelor degree or above in mechanical, electronics, electrical engineering, physics or related fields.
Work Experience:
- ■At least 1 year of experience in electrical and electronic safety testing or related field (depending on grade requirements).
- ■Laboratory testing experience is preferred.
Skills Required:
- ■Familiar with safety testing standards for electrical and electronic products (e.g. IEC 62841-1, IEC 60335-1, etc.).
- ■Familiar with electrical safety test equipment and tools (e.g. multimeter, voltage withstand tester, thermal imager, etc.).
- ■Good circuit analysis and problem-solving skills.
Other Requirements:
- ■Good analytical skills, ability to work accurately and to follow strictly the quality management process in the laboratory.
- ■Self-starter attitude and ability to work under pressure to complete tasks efficiently.
- ■Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- ■Good communication and presentation skills
- ■Fair command of both spoken and written English.
- ■Chinese speaking skill would be an advantage.
- ■Excellent knowledge of PC (MS Office, etc.)
