Experience reports - Apprenticeship at TÜV Rheinland

"I am doing my apprenticeship in the Industrial Service & Cybersecurity business area. What I like most is the flexibility and diversity that industrial service offers, whether it's the various departments or the different business areas where you can be deployed during the apprenticeship. During my time at vocational school, in addition to the classes, I was also able to participate in additional qualifications, such as language certificates in various languages or projects like the mentoring program, where apprentices act as mentors for business school students and support them on their path to an apprenticeship."

Lea Blocksiepen,

Training as a business management clerk, since 2022

"From the beginning, I felt that at TÜV Rheinland, not only professional competence but also the person behind the work is valued. In addition to the opportunity to take on a wide range of tasks, I found the promotion of personal and professional development offered by TÜV Rheinland very interesting. I was able to grow not only in terms of expertise but also personally. I particularly appreciate the exchange between the training supervisor and apprentices. From the very first day, I felt that I was expected to actively shape my training."

Fiona Perabo,

Training as a business management clerk, since 2023

"I chose to do my apprenticeship at TÜV Rheinland because I am fascinated by the structures and work processes of large companies. The topic of safety gives the work a meaningful purpose. As part of my apprenticeship, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, I had the opportunity to complete an internship in Dublin, Ireland, in the summer of 2024. For four weeks, I gained insight into Ireland's working and social life. Overall, my internship abroad was a very positive experience. I was able to gain many professional and personal experiences, and I would recommend taking such an opportunity to anyone."

Antonia Erkelenz,

Training as a business management clerk, since 2022

"As part of my apprenticeship, I have gotten to know different areas and have worked in the Mobility and Unified Communications departments. What I like most about my working day is the IT apprentice meetings, where we sometimes get a technical or logical task and try to figure out the result together. In this context, we have learned about logical links, regular expressions, or electrical kits. All IT apprentices also have their own contact person. The training supervisor is fully integrated into our daily work, and I can always ask for help and support there."

Alexandra Droll,

Training as a specialist in computer science, since 2023

"I have been passionate about computer science and programming since high school. After a relaxed job interview and a successful trial day, I knew that TÜV Rheinland was the perfect place for my apprenticeship. From the beginning, I was appreciated as a colleague and directly integrated into the department. I take on my own projects and tasks but always get support when needed. A particularly positive experience was the support from my training supervisor and the company when I went through a difficult phase at the end of 2023 – they always had my back."

David Henkes,

Training as an IT specialist, since 2023

"During my apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant, we test children's toys and products, evaluate them, and issue result reports. Every day you learn something new that you can also relate to everyday life. Sometimes, when shopping, you see products with a TÜV-certified label and know that you might have been part of the testing process. My personal highlight so far was the apprentice meeting in Cologne. A lot of emphasis is placed on networking with other apprentices, ensuring you don’t feel "lost" and know who to contact if there is a problem. TÜV Rheinland is a global company, and being part of it and its testing processes is something I am proud of."
