HSE Engineer

Job Description

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for switchyards and UPD facilities to identify potential hazards associated with electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and other operational activities.
  • Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations related to electrical safety and environmental protection in switchyards and UPD facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and codes.
  • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures specific to switchyards and UPD activities, including electrical safety protocols.
  • Communicate safety guidelines to all personnel and contractors.
  • Provide specialized safety training to workers involved in switchyard and UPD operations, including training on electrical safety, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency response protocols.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for electrical incidents, fires, and other emergencies.
  • Conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure personnel are well-prepared to respond to emergencies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of switchyards and UPD facilities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to address safety concerns promptly.
  • Implement and monitor electrical safety measures, such as proper grounding, insulation, and protective equipment.
  • Ensure that workers are trained in the safe handling of electrical equipment and tools.
  • Ensure that appropriate PPE is provided and used by workers, including insulated gloves, safety glasses, and arc-flash protective clothing.
  • Implement measures to minimize environmental impact, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, spill response plans, and pollution prevention strategies.
  • Investigate electrical incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.
  • Document and report findings to management and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Facilitate communication between different stakeholders regarding safety issues in switchyards and UPD facilities.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all personnel.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of safety activities, inspections, training sessions, and incidents specific to switchyards and UPD facilities.
  • Prepare and submit regular safety reports to management.
  • Continuously assess and improve the effectiveness of the safety program for switchyards and UPD facilities.
  • Implement lessons learned from incidents to enhance safety protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to the HSE roles, responsibilities & accountabilities as defined in MS-0047700-HSE Roles Responsibilities & Authorities.
  • Comply and ensure implementation of the company’s and the customer’s Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Process requirements.

  • Expertise in process development, implementation and control.
  • At least 5 years of experience of in the relevant field
  • 1-year diploma in Industrial safety.
  • NEBOSH certification.
